Recently I visited the Crimea, Ukraine for a conference! The hotel was right beside the Black Sea so we had some amazing views, including tankers for some of the week (an odd extra for a pretty beach scene). While I was there there were several lightning storms, although none of them came over head. I did however rush down to the beach during one of them to try snap some of the lightning! It was goregous to watch from the dryness and safety of the shore 🙂
This is the best shot I got from the evening of storm watching, I was very lucky with the timing, especially since this was the largest strike of the whole storm! I’m now completely hooked on lightning photography and aim to improve these images over the next few years. Pity Ireland isn’t very lightning prone!
